Primary Masterclass Series

The Bosco Primary Maths Masterclasses series is now in its second year, and we are delighted that we have been able to welcome all six Bosco Primaries to participate in the programme. Year 6 students have been coming together, online, to explore and investigate mathematical ideas which are not usually part of the primary curriculum. Through the Masterclasses, students have the opportunity to work together on interesting topics such as Sierpinski’s triangle, magic squares and Fibonacci sequences.

The Masterclasses are a real highlight of the maths calendar and offer an opportunity for the whole trust to work together. In addition to a speaker from the Royal Institute, we have been fortunate to have Matt Hine, a maths teacher at SPH deliver one of the series helping to build continuity of mathematics across the phases. In addition, we are very excited for 6th form students from SPH to be delivering the final Masterclass in December. A fantastic opportunity for maths students to share their love of the subject and inspire the next generation of mathematicians within our Trust.

A big thank you to the staff teams in all the primary schools who have supported their students to participate. Congratulations to all the year 6 students who have taken part – their participation and engagement in the sessions has been outstanding, along with demonstration of advanced mathematical skills.
